Election Day - March 5, 2024

The Arkansas primaries were a couple weeks ago on March 5th and, sadly, Dad lost his race for State Senate getting about 29% of the vote to his opponent's 71%. It was a disappointment, but we were at peace with whichever way it went, and were going to praise God whether we won or lost. We're so thankful for Dad's stand for the truth and his effort to make a difference in our state government.

Voting that morning!
Some of us held signs at the polling place in the afternoon.
We had a watch party that night with several friends and had a great time of fellowship as we watched the results come in!
We had some yummy snack food!

Happy Birthday Sarah!!!

Sarah turns #22 this year!! She is an industrious young lady and seems to always be working on a quilting project or making precious little baby hats and bibs. We are so blessed by her sweet, quiet spirit in our home and her devotion to the Lord and His Word.
Sarah really enjoyed being involved in the campaign this year and was always eager to go to events and do door-to-door campaigning!
Aunt Sarah is dearly loved by the littles, and her name is Jack's favorite one to say right now!❤️
A winter walk with a good friend!
John, Amanda, and Sarah went to a Christmas play in December put on by one of Amanda's friends and her family. They had a blast and we heard about it for many days afterward.😁
Sarah diligently works on her quilting business and has been coming out with many cute things!
Happy Birthday!!!!

Running for State Senate!

We are excited to announce that Dad is running for Arkansas State Senate!! Here is an excerpt from his website (silveyforsenate.com) that explains why he is running:

"The people of Arkansas District 3 need to have a consistent conservative as their representative and the people need to have a voice in their government. I am the only candidate in this race who will not be taking campaign money from Democrats or big corporate money interests. You can count on me to be a conservative vote all the time, everytime. I will always seek to stand for what is right. We also need to get back to government being of the people and for the people.  We need representatives who will think of the rights of the people as their first priority.  I will stand for what is right and for the rights of the people.

I am inspired to this work by one of our founding fathers, Frederick Muhlenberg. He was a pastor who at first opposed the idea of Christians getting involved in government. Later when the British threatened his home and freedoms, he decided to get involved. He eventually went on to become the first speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and as such had the privilege of putting his signature on the Bill of Rights. In one hand he held the Bible and stood for what is right. In the other, he held the Constitution and stood for the rights of the people."

Filing in Little Rock at the RPA building.
We were blessed to have some friends there supporting us!
Heading into the Capitol to sign some more papers.
This was our first time to be inside our State Capitol and we were blown away by all the marble and beautiful architecture!
We are nearing the homestretch with the campaign season, the primary being March 5th. We are excited to see what the Lord has in store with this race, and are trusting Him with the outcome!

Hello!

Hello blog readers! Blessings to you in this new year!

I have been a little silent on the blog for the past couple months, mainly because we've had some recent life changes that has made for a little busier life. But I hope to be more active in posting now, and look forward to sharing some updates with you! I'll start right now with recapping our family's Christmas/New Year celebrations.

Christmas Day we enjoyed a brunch of yummy food and a quiet afternoon with a dear friend, Ms. Barbara.

We enjoyed a little bit of singing as well!
The day after Christmas we got together with all of Dad's family and had a really great visit! We played the annual Silvey Rook game, and surprisingly Jacob and Sarah's team broke Uncle Mike and Jared's record of winning each year. 😁
New Years game night!
A beautiful sunset to finish out 2023!

~~~~~~~~~
Will and Brittany and the kids visited for New Years, and we had our Christmas celebration with them then. Lots of sweet family time was had, and Lizzy and Jack kept all the aunt and uncles on their toes with their never-ending energy.😆
Dad read the Christmas story before we opened gifts.
Jack was old enough this year to really appreciate the presents!
The Buffalo Plaid Guys!😁
Reading books with Aunt Sarah.
The uncles had quite the hilarious time entertaining Lizzy one night!😆
Codenames...again.😁 (If you have been following our blog recently, you should notice by now that we have a new favorite game.😉)
