4th of July Recap

On the 4th, we went to White Oak Lake and enjoyed spending a fun day celebrating the founding of our country with some friends! We missed Dad and Mom not being there. They couldn't come because of a pressing situation that came up.
We got the kayaks out pretty quickly and had some fun trips!
We were able to get pretty close to an egret and took some shots as it flew away.

Volleyball game in action!
Walking the trails.
We wrapped up the day with exploring the Little Grand Canyon.

and forms the spirit of man within him."  -Zechariah 12:1

"No free government, nor the blessings of liberty, can be preserved by any people, but by firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."  -George Mason

"Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today...and you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth." -Deuteronomy 8:11,18

Father's Day - 2023

We are so thankful for our wonderful dad and the way he leads our family to follow God and His Word, works hard to provide for our needs, and for all the wisdom he has imparted to us.
Happy Father's Day, Dad!

his children are blessed after him."

Life Update #2

Jared closed on a house and property in April! He's pretty excited about owning his own place now!

The whole family went out to see the place for the first time the day he closed on it.
Opening the door for the first time as the owner!
It has 20 acres of land.

There have been two new additions to the Silvey farm recently...Bear and Lottie!
Bear is the son of our male dog, Boone, and looks just like his daddy!
We found Lottie abandoned by her mother when she was about a week old, so we got to experience  bottle feeding an animal for the first time!
Amanda dug up one row of our potatoes and got about 70 pounds so we had a big canning day putting those up!
Sarah and I did all of the peeling and cutting...
...and Amanda did the canning part.

28 quarts of potatoes!

"Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face evermore! Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders and the judgments of His mouth." -Psalm 105:4,5

Life Update

Hello! It has been awhile since there's been a life update on the blog, so I put together some pictures of what we've been up to this year so far. It is a busy season for us right now with remodeling our new house, garden work, and other little things. I hope you enjoy the recap!

Farmers Market started up the first week of May!
The kitchen is kept busy with lots of baking the day before market!
Mom started making sourdough bread to sell this year.
Planting potatoes earlier this Spring.

Planting cabbage(unders Saunders supervision😁).
Jared bought a walk-behind tractor this year and that has been a big help in the garden.
It's green bean time again!
Some carpenter friends from Kansas came down at the end of March to help us with building the additions on our new house.
Mixing concrete for concrete footings.
We girls enjoyed watching the progress and taking a walk in the neighborhood!
Lunchbreak!
This room will be the laundry room/sunroom.
We really enjoyed getting to visit with Mr. Keith and Keiton and are thankful for all their help on the house!
We celebrated Mom's birthday this month!

Mom has had a tradition of having some sort of strawberry dessert for her birthday so this year Sarah made her a strawberry pie.

Memorial Day ~ Honoring Those Who Died

                                                                                                                                                                   By Grace Silvey
Freedom - the very thing we would not have today if it were not for the brave troops of the United States of America. If you have enjoyed the freedom of speech today, the freedom of religion, or any other right, take a moment to stop and remember how great a sacrifice it took to establish those liberties. All soldiers should have our deepest respect, but the ones who lost their lives in protecting our country deserve greater honor. They gave everything they had - for that I will forever be grateful. I also want to pay tribute to the police officers who have lost their lives while seeking to stop evil and preserve right. We owe much to them for making this a safe nation to live in.

Ronald Reagan once said this: “If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” If I could use four words to describe present day America, they would be: a nation gone under. We have rejected God, the Bible, and even the Constitution we were founded on. Elected officials, who are supposed to be by and for the people, are now by and for the money. We daily murder babies in the womb; we let crimes go unpunished. Our borders are wide open, our debt is outrageous…truly the condition of America is sad and critical. Citizens of America! Will you stand by and watch evil overrun our nation without lifting one finger to help? Do you so easily despise the blood and sweat and toil it took to make this nation free? Will you not rise up to stand for God and right, to defend the helpless and establish justice in America? My prayer is that America could once again be one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all!

Throughout the years our soldiers have bravely fought to preserve freedom and right, so today I want to be grateful to all of those men who laid down their lives while doing so.  “Never was so much owed by so many to so few.” -Winston Churchill

"Oh beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife, who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life! America, America, God shed His grace on thee; and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." -John 15:13

Mother's Day ~2023

Happy Mother's Day! We are very grateful for the godly mother God gave us. We love you!

"She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all." Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised."  -Proverbs 31:27-30
