Decorating For Christmas!

Thanksgiving is over, and it's time to decorate for Christmas! Monday morning, us girls dug the boxes of decorations out of the barn and got to work on the all-day project.

Sarah researching how to fix lights that weren't working. She figured out how to replace burnt out bulbs and got some of the lights working again!
Liz posed so well for our traditional "wrap the Christmas lights around the inside animal" picture. 😁

It looks like she was getting tired of all the commotion. 😄

A Christmas tradition - listening to Irish and Scottish Christmas music while we decorate!

We decided we weren't going to have enough lights for everything, so Sarah and I (Amanda) ran to a nearby Dollar General to get some more.

While at Dollar General, we found some red ribbon to use to decorate Jacob's buck, which he kindly allowed us to do. 😊

Tada!

Mr. Buck looks quite dashing.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Silvey family! We hope everyone has had a wonderful day remembering and being thankful for God's goodness and blessings to us.

"Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness."  -Psalm 107:1-2,8-9

Happy Birthday Jared!!

Jared celebrates the start of his 27th year this week!!!!!!!🎂🎂🎂😁😆
Jared is really into politics and worked hard in campaigning this spring for the primary elections.
He was the main force behind going door to door. He would give up weekends and even a few hours after work to go campaign.
Having a discussion with Doc Washburn at our first candidate meeting.

Watching the November election results come in.
With good friend and tenor singer for the Southern Plainsmen Quartet.
Happy Birthday!!

August Birthdays Recap

August is our biggest birthday month, with one birthday at the very beginning and three more on the third week, each two days apart!

Dad praying a blessing prayer over John.
Trying to get John to pose normal for a picture is just like asking a fly to stop flying.😆

~~~~~~~~~~
My family surprised me with some things the Saturday before my birthday! I had four surprise stops, and the first one was General Douglas MacArthur's museum in Little Rock!
The uniform and helmet in this picture were General Eisenhowers. The uniform was a replica but the helmet was the one he wore in combat.
It was really neat getting to see a lot of WWII things!
The second stop was by far the highlight of the day, which was......touring a submarine!!
One cool fact about this submarine was that it was one of the seven subs that landed in Japan when they surrendered.
You had to climb a 14 ft. ladder to get down and up, which was a little tricky. ;)
It was really cool to sit at the table where they sat during WWII!
After the submarine we went to eat lunch at a buffet, and I couldn't have been more surprised than to see Doc Washburn standing there when we walked in!!
And then the fourth and final stop was to see an airplane display! Sadly, it was on the air force base and you had to be a soldier or know one to get in, so we just contented ourselves with looking at a big airplane out front!
Only Jacob would open his cards with his knife. 😂
